When I first read through the list of questions from which us students were to choose a topic for our paper, there was one question in particular that irked me, that being “How should music be judged?”. It bothered me because immediately brought to my mind were the self-proclaimed music gurus you may have seen on various music channels, forcing their view of what good music is -“good” music being what they’ve been paid to advertise by those who would profit from it’s sales- down the throats of it’s viewers.
